California coast

California's Pacific coast

This was a 3 day trip down along the California coast starting just north of Santa Cruz (about 75 miles south of San Francisco) down to within 100 miles north of Los Angeles

First thing on the Trip was the California coastal redwoods at Big Basin park. NOTE: all pics are clickable for the full size images

Satin in front of the biggest redwood around... Called the Father of the forest.. makes her look about a foot tall hehehehe.. This tree is almost 2,500 years old.. and is almost 16 foot in diameter at the base.
Me in front of the same tree partway around it to the left of where Satin was standing
Another rather large redwood, called the Mother of the forest, almost 2,500 years old as well
People by some of the redwoods near the Park Rangers station... Not nearly as big as the 2 previous, but large any way you look at it..
Some more about a 100 feet from the previous little stand.. You can see the cars at the bottom to give an idea how big these trees really are..

After the Redwoods was the Pacific coast... Due to Highway 1 being closed between Big Sur and Hearst Castle.. we didnt go that route..

This was taken at Morro Bay.. Morrow rock is to the left just outside the picture.. it was late afternoon already.. and a picture of Morro rock itself could not be taken..
This is near the end of the Pier at Pismo beach looking back towards town. this is one of 3 in a panoramic view
A look further south down Pismo Beach.. This picture is where most of the people would be on the weekends :)
Looking VERY far south down Pismo.. the Sand dunes and the wind kicking up the sand and dust can be seen. It kind of looks like a brown cloud
Right outside the motel.. Literally walking distance to the beach (40 steps) which can be seen on the lower left. The ocean could be heard from the room all night...
Taken as place as above, only panned over to the right a little more.
The 3rd in a panoramic view looking to the right. The Motel's swimming pool and hot tub can be seen in the lower right. Kind of funny.. a swimming pool not even 100 yeards from the ocean...
The Motel where we were at...
