Work History

Responsible for support of the Claims Processing department. Implemented many new Data Auditing and clean up programs that were never supplied by the vendor. Implemented new systems to replace manual or on paper work entirely.

Responsible for installing, maintaining, modifying and capacity planning the Oracle database. Monitor performance and maintain the Sun server that Oracle is on. Modify and maintain the Vantive application as needed and provide customer support.

Perform data loads from the accounting system, using custom written perl programs.

Maintain an existing PICK/Universe application system while preparing for a move to Progress Database, maintain and upgrade existing HP-UX severs. System administration on HP-UX and Sun servers, including automation tools and user accounts. Also write analysis programs to fix corrupted data as needed and fix software causing it. Added and enhanced parts tracking system.

Maintain and modify the sales order, EDI and inventory system (PICK/Universe) Added bar code capability to the system for shipping. Maintain and perform System administration on the unix server. Write Universe to Oracle data transfer programs. Also designed an interface for ASK/MANMAN on Vax/VMS for Universe and MANMAN system to share data. Wrote a unix spooler manager for the Operators to keep them from having root capabilities, but still do their job (nighttime reports management). Developed an entire suite of automatic monitoring tools with settable threshold levels for monitoring disk space and CPU utilization for all the Sun servers. Developed procedures for the operators and some basic troubleshooting guides. Developed programs to capture system info to be imported into excel for later charting and graphing to present to management.

Maintain and modify the Ultrafis system. Perform customer support including fixing many GFE’s at customer sights following the 1989 earthquake. Responsible for conversion of the native PICK code from Ultimate to Universe. This involved working on a source code "pre-processor" so that the SAME pick code could run on both platforms simultaneously. Developed a set of Bi-SYNC lookalike programs to interface with existing software on Universe. Responsible for system administration on the new Universe environment and teaching the other programmers the differences in native Ultimate and Universe, along with some basic unix skills.
